When I first started Magic Tea I wanted to use tea bags, as I know busy Mums would prefer the convenience of a tea bag. But once I started doing research into the comparisons I soon realised that loose leaf tea is 100% the best option for so many reasons.

Many tea bags contain plastic! In order to seal the bags and help them keep their shape tea bags often have plastic polymer, typically polypropylene, a nasty product for us and for our planet, that is a huge reason we stay clear from tea bags. 

Another huge factor in favour of loose leaf tea is that, generally speaking, its higher quality than the tea in tea bags. Sometimes, tea bags are used as a way to disguise lower quality tea leaves, but with loose leaf you can't get away with that.

When you steep loose leaf tea, it has room for tea leaves to absorb water and expand as they infuse. This allows the water to flow through the leaves and extract a wide range of vitamins, minerals, flavours, and aromas from the leaves. Packing full-leaf tea into a small tea bag won’t yield a very flavourful cup.
